Here equal to 3 is the velocity of man is the velocity of rain.

PQ is velocity of rain relative to man. In the second case, equal to 6 is the new velocity of man and = new velocity of rain relative to man.

Now OQ 2 = OP 2 + PQ 2

or OQ 2 = 3 2 + 3 2 ( Q  PQ = PR = 6 – 3 = 3)

or OQ = 3 √ √ 2 kmh -1

tan θ θ = PQ/OQ = 3/3 = 1 or Q = 45 o
